Bah Habah Weekend Pics

Our weekend sneak away to Bar Harbor, ME was fantastic.  Perfect even.  What a great couple of days.  Here are a few of the pictures I took.  Some on the way there, some in Acadia National Park, and some on the way home.

That's not the Zakim Bridge in Boston, that bridge crosses the Penobscot River.

This spot on the river is the site of one of the American Colonists worst defeats during the war for independence.  We lost the battle, but won the war.  We have survived as a nation this long, specifically for me to be able to drop that lame cliche in a blog post.

Now we are inside Acadia National Park on the Loop Drive Road.  Sure we could have hiked through the forest, but we chose to drive instead.  Me being criminally out of shape might have been part of the decision making process there.  Here are a couple of views from Frenchman Bay.

When we were walking through town the next day I found the name of this boat.  I can't remember now.  Is it the Mary Todd?  Something like that.

We were told that this land bridge disappears during high tide.  At this point, however, you could see little ant sized people walking across.

I'll post some more pictures in a little while.

The very nice woman working in the variety store let us use the employee restroom instead of the porta potty.

Thank you!

Bah Habah

Acadia National Park

Back Yard

Our hotel's back yard is nice.

Bar Harbor

It's interesting. When a non-New Englander wants to pick on some one with a New England accent they always ask the New Englander to say, "park your car in Harvard Yard."

This of course is totally absurd as any one with half a brain can figure out that Harvard Yard does not have a parking lot, only a bicycle rack.

No, what the non-New Englander (ie the soulless heathen) should ask the New Englander (ie the saint) to say is, "Bar Harbor."

Hell, even when I try with all of my mental (ie mental midget) might to pronounce all of those r's I just can't do it. No matter what you do, "Bar Harbor" is coming out sounding like, "Bah Hahbah."

New Hipstamatic Lens

Is this a new fav lens? Gotta match it with a new fav film.

Two Work Days

I know I just went on a huge vacation last month but...

Two days to the long weekend.

Two.

Bleedin'.

Days.

It can't get here fast enough, it really can't.

Unrelated sports comments.  The Kings are in the Stanley Cup Finals.  The Devils are one win away from being in the Stanley Cup Finals.  The Red Sox have clawed their way back to .500 at 22-22 but they are still in last place in the AL East.  Only 5.5 games out though.

The long Memorial Day weekend will make things even better.

Please!

Chirp

We went TV free tonight. My step son is in bed, my step daughter is about to go to bed, my wife is on her iMac coding like a whirling dervish, and I'm trying to get some Clive Barker audiobooks onto my iCloud account.

In other words, we are all being very quiet. That means there is no noise inside of the house to drown out the sound of that damn cricket just outside the living room window.

Damn that bug is loud!
