The Capital Building

Here's the story. We had a tour booked through the office of our Congresswoman Niki Tsongas. The tour was scheduled for noon. We got through security into the visitors center 20 minutes early. There we were told that the capital was closed due to the dedication of a new statue of Ronald Regan that was being added to the Rotunda. We would not be able to go inside until after 1:00, and our tour would be the normal walk up tour.

We were also told that we could go to Congresswoman Tsongas' office and request a gallery pass. We decided to put our Capital visit off until we returned to DC two days later. On that day it was pouring rain out. We started looking for Representative Tsongas' office but the rain was beating us down so we just skipped our shot at a gallery pass and went with the walk up tour.

I sincerely wish we had been notified by our Congresswoman's office that our tour was canceled. I also sincerely wish that if it must have been canceled it was for some one besides Ronald Regan. Urgh.
