Swift River

Duck and cover kids, you're about to be photo bombed.

You have been warned.

As usual, I took a truck load of pictures during our week vacation in Maine.  When I got home and looked at them I was surprised at what I'd taken.  There were more pictures of things than of people.  Everyone else who came equipped with a camera took more pictures of people than things.  Maybe subconsciously I was trying to fill the void?

I don't know.  Anyway, there was an Air Show in Portsmouth, NH on the day we left home so we detoured through New Hampshire and drove across the Kancamagus Highway.  We've taken that road before when leaf peeping in the fall, but there is more to it than that.  There are the rivers.  In this case, the Swift River.  There are hiking trails and such along the highway that lead to great views of the river, including some waterfalls.  Parking was tough so we were only able to stop at one spot.  I think this is called the lower falls, but I am probably wrong.

I did take pictures of Jen and the kids during this stop, but there was an ankle injury that scared the shit out of me so we didn't stay for long.  I did get a bunch of cool pictures of the water though, and I will now bury you in them.

Enjoy!

The water is so clear, and the sun is so bright, that it looks gold.  I love that.

The water looks nice and clean, but it was also cold.  Jen and the kids dipped their feet in and said it was freezing.

Since meeting my beautiful wife Jennifer, and traveling around various mountainous places in New Hampshire, I have come to love waterfalls.  Who woulda thunk it?

And finally we have this:

There were a lot of people there.  I did a good job making it look like we had the joint to ourselves, didn't I?  Many of the people were swimming.  Some were just walking around like we were.  We have already talked about going back again to hit the stops we missed.  I think I could have spent a week right there, hanging out on the rocks and playing in the river.
